Of Things Hoped for

Enter the harsh world of the early 20th century family. Before the prosperity, before universal public education. Before Social Security. This is the Story of the life of Cloe Alma McClary, and the family that still surrounds her.

In a time before the modern conveniences, they found ways of making life bearable, though rarely easy. And yet in all of the hardship, showed a stoic resolve rarely seen in the world of today. In this presentation of family life can be seen the way of life that thousands of Americans lived, and through the pages can be seen the many families and persons of that era.

Today we see the poverty of other lands, of other third world people, little knowing that once our very own families had to endure much of the same afflictions, with the exception of having no hope at all of aid, from local, or national authorities, much less other countries.

This is not only the story of one family, but the story of many families, including those who’s hopes of the American dream were stifled by the rigors of daily life and toil.

Come see the dream, Of Things Hoped For. And one family’s eventual success in climbing out of post World War 1 poverty in rural America.
